No Good Anymore
There was a mix of some newer insulation that was added about 10 years ago as well as insulation that hasn't been replaced in over 20 years! Overall, all the insulation in the attic was no longer efficient.
Take it All Out
So we carefully removed all of the insulation and disinfected the entire attic.
Tight Shell Can Light Covers
We then placed several measuring markers throughout the attic to guarantee that the proper amount of R-value is added and installed Tight Shell Can Light Covers over the recessed lights in the attic. These are made out of a fire resistant material and is specifically designed to stop unwanted air leakage through the recessed lights.
Time for TruSoft
Lastly, we added approximately 12 inches TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation throughout the attic.
