Attic Insulation Photo Album: Adding New Blown-in Cellulose Insulation to the Attic in Allenhurst, NJ
A new customer in Allenhurst, NJ called our Attic Space Division with concerns for their high heating and cooling bills. They were looking to invest in their attic by consulting with one of our Home Energy Specialists.
Hardly Any Insulation
As we inspected the attic, we noticed that there was hardly any insulation in the attic!
Messy and Full of Gaps
Not to mention that the attic was pretty messy and any fiberglass insulation that was present had a lot of gaps in it, which was allowing their heated and conditioned air from the living spaces leak into the attic!
Old With the Old
So we removed all the old fiberglass insulation and then disinfected the attic. Next, we air sealed all the gaps and cracks in the attic. This will eliminate air flow between the living space and the attic, improving energy efficiency.
In With the New
Afterward, we added over 10 inches of TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation.
TruSoft Blown-In Cellulose Insulation
TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation maximizes home comfort, has the highest Class-1 fire safety rating & is resistant to mold and pests.
Now for the Hatchmaster Reflective Insulation
We also installed a reflective attic stairway insulator over the attic stairs. This functions by forming air spaces with layers of bubbles and reflective foils. These spaces restrict air movement which reduces heat flow by convection. Additionally, the reflectivity and low emissivity of each reflective layer also reflects away up to 96% of radiant heat! The homeowners now have an incredibly energy efficient attic that helps contain any conditioned air in the living spaces.
